What are the odds Wenger and RvP both leave Arsenal in the summer? Derek McGovern's Bets of the Day

They're saying Arsenal’s humiliation in Milan proves the Premier League is wildly overrated.

No, it doesn’t.

It proves Arsenal are wildly overrated.

They were so bad, they even made Zlatan Ibrahimovic look good and now, six years too late, Gooners are calling for the head of bumbling manager Arsene Wenger.

Wenger said his chief priority now was to finish in the top four, thereby guaranteeing another Milan-type massacre next season.

He should have done what Fergie did – bow out of the Champions League in December.

That would have afforded him more time to poke his nose into other people’s clubs.

Le Professeur reckons Arsenal now have just a “two per cent” chance of reaching the last eight, which was pretty much the state of affairs back in September.

In Europe, Arsenal are now rated about as highly as the Euro, which is bad.

In England, they’re rated about as highly as the Toon, which is worse.

Wenger is evens with Hills not to be at the Emirates on the first day of next season, and the only thing I can think of more certain than him leaving in the summer is a trophy. They are allergic to them.

It’s 5-2 for both Wenger and Robin van Persie to have fled to pastures new (or pastures Nou Camp) by then.

The Gunners are 20-1 with Hills to reach the last eight – I think that’s the Champions League but it could also be the FA Cup – and 250-1 to win the Champions League.

Presumably ever.

Sir Alex Ferguson wants his successor to be a Manchester United man, so there’s no better choice than Ryan Giggs, should he want to keep it in the family.

Giggs is currently taking his coaching badges but has zilch in the way of managerial experience, yet has been cut from 66-1 to 20-1 by Hills to succeed Fergie.

That follows the news Paul Scholes has tipped him for the job and with tipping like that Scholesy will be writing this column next.

Old Father Time is catching up with Fergie.

At the last World Cup draw, he asked Mike Phelan who the first two teams out of the hat were.

“Austria, Hungary,” said Phelan.

“Aye. Who are they playing?” replied Fergie.

The United gaffer shows his age every time United score, getting agitated in the manner of an 85-year-old woman after someone else has shouted bingo.

Probably Giggsy.

Man of the moment Harry Redknapp is 33-1 to follow in Fergie’s footsteps.

BET OF THE DAY

It's a law in certain tribes of cannibals that when a daughter reaches the age of 18 she has to find herself an edible young bachelor.

Get on Reading at 10-11 to beat Burnley on Friday night.

Madonna's Hyde Park concert this summer is under threat because of noise complaints.

People who live in the area say that the noise from summer concerts is so loud they can hardly keep their minds on the dogging.

The gigs most at risk of being pulled are dance acts who play beats repetitively – not to be confused with Arsenal, who are beat repetitively.

Last year, local residents lodged 109 complaints about the noise, but no-one could hear them.

Boris Johnson has stepped into the Hyde Park row, and hopefully the Hyde Park doo-doo, and urged Westminster council not to ban gigs.

He said that was entirely up to Manchester United.

Ladbrokes quote 2-1 for the Madonna gig to be scrapped, and it’s 10-1 for Hyde Park to be a music-free zone for the duration of the summer.
