There can be no excuses if you don't bet on Benfica to beat Everton tonight
It's typical of Everton's luck this season that the Lisbon Treaty was ratified a fortnight too late.
The Blues were destroyed in Lisbon by Benfica two weeks ago - the kind of limp-wristed performance that would have excited only those in the Lisbon (Merseyside's gayest bar, especially when I'm there).
The thing about Goodison boss David Moyes is that he has an excuse for every Everton defeat. Too many injuries, too many goals conceded, it's only Everton, etc.
I spoke to him at a party once. A little later we bumped into each other again in another part of the room and he told me the same thing. When I told him we'd already had that conversation he ticked me off for moving.
Given the scale of the bum-smacking they took in Lisbon, it's a surprise to see Everton as short as 6-5 favourites to gain revenge tonight.
True, Portuguese sides travel about as well as Naomi Campbell, but injury-hit Blues right now look there for the taking and Benfica at 21-10 have to be taken.
