Why Motty must be a good bet to break his barren streak, and the Bet of the Day

BBC commentator John Motson has sat through four consecutive goalless draws and the only man who could tell you when that last happened is John Motson.

The sheepskin on legs has gone 375 minutes without seeing a goal scored, which makes him either very unlucky or a Portsmouth fan.

He commentates next on tonight's Wolves v Spurs clash and Bet365 offer 9-1 for the game to continue the Motty curse and end goalless

It's 5-6 for him to pass 400 minutes without a goal and about 400-1 for him to pass 5-6 minutes without an inanity.

Motty doesn't so much commentate as give the viewer a free eye-test. "Goal...was it?" "It crossed the line...did it?" and "Muzzy...is it?"

The greatest Mottyism? "Middlesbrough are withdrawing Maccarone the Italian, Nemeth the Slovakian, and Stockdale the right-back"
