At last Birmingham found their scoring boots against Sunderland. Now bring on Manchester City!
Two goals at home, lets all have a disco!
I mean, we’ve finally found our scoring boots, and we even put one in for the opposite side!
As other football fans have been telling me, on paper, Sunderland easily have a team who could of beaten Blues. However, on the day, we took advantage of a Sunderland who looked under par, and we played well and finally began to take our chances.
With Liam Ridgewell back, and welcoming himself back with a goal, and Chucho running rings around the Sunderland defence, all Blues fans can look forward to Sundays match with the Premier Leagues new big spenders: Manchester City.
With Joe Hart prevented from playing the match due to him actually being a Man City player, Maik Taylor comes in for Blues in goal in his first Premier league start of the season. I don’t think this is a massive reason to worry though. Taylor is a highly experiences player, and although his game may have naturally diminished with age, he’s still a keeper that most Premier league clubs would be happy to have on the books.
Maik Taylor and the four in front of him are possibly going to have the hardest job on Sunday. Adebayor has had a great season so far, he’s a big, quick naturally gifted striker who worries the most formidable of defences. Close man marking will be the key to keeping him out of the game.
With the concentration being placed around the defence on keeping their attacks stifled, the midfield and strike force must work even harder to create chances. We’re finally starting to score goals, and against a free scoring team like City, we need to take every chance we get.
Manchester City are a future top Premier club. Against Manchester United and Arsenal we gave good solid defensive performances on the whole, and even managed to score against Arsenal. We need more of the same against Manchester City, and with any luck, send their fans back to a quiet, miserable journey home after sneaking the 3 points. My heart says a win, but my head says a draw. After last weeks perfect prediction, lets go for two in a row! 2-2!
