10@10: Other internet memes Mike Ashley could introduce to further denigrate sportsdirect.com@St James’ Park
Newcastle fans are, quite justifiably, up in arms about Mike Ashley's decision to rename their historic ground sportsdirect.com@St James’ Park .
However, the Toon army should take a small crumb of comfort from the fact that it could be a lot, lot worse.
Ashley and his cronies have clearly just discovered the internet and its idiosyncratic ways, so count yourself lucky he didn't look into the history of the meme and come up with any of the following ideas:
1) Replacing Shearer's Bar with the I Can Has Cheezburger? Restaurant
2) Scrapping the Milburn Stand in favour of the Chuck Norris Stand
3) Changing the club's nickname to the LOLMagpiez!!11!!
4) Installing treadmills at the training ground and forced the players to recreate OK Go's Here It Goes Again video
5) Selling 2 Girls 1 Cup in the club shop (actually, we won't put a link up to that one...)
6) Introducing cheerleaders dressed as the Dancing Baby
7) Replacing half-time music with a continuous loop of Chocolate Rain
8) Changing the club's crest to a picture of the O RLY? owl
9) Replacing manager Chris Hughton with Leroy Jenkins
10) Renaming the club the Toon Warriors and unveiled the TW@Directors' Box. Actually that one's not such a bad idea at all...
