Darren Bent's night vision, exploding pitches and a Leeds loser - the five best things we've found on the web today
As it nears 5pm and the clock begins to tick ever more slowly, we have gathered together the five best things we've found on the web today to try and speed up the last couple of hours of your working day. You're welcome!
1) Rejection is not something most people enjoy, but one Yorkshireman is positively revelling in his new-found fame as a literally record-breaking loser.
We've all got a mate who has written to the FA to apply for the job of England manager, and Andy Robinson from Leeds has done that too - except he's gone a tad further than most and currently has 43 letters of rejection from league clubs including Tottenham, Celtic and of course Leeds United. His target is to be rejected by all 92 football league clubs - although Joe Kinnear might well beat him to it.
2) Darren Bent is the Stephen Fry of the football world, such is his appetite for posting banal details of his life of Twitter. Well now, thanks to his need for sharing, we know what he looks like wearing a set of night vision goggles for the video game Modern Warfare II. A right berk obviously.
3) Goalkeepers have always used wacky tactics in penalty shoot-outs to try to distract the opposing players - think Bruce Grobbelaar and Jerzy Dudek. But one American 'net-tender' has taken things a bit too far...
4) When you're playing football you really don't expect the very pitch beneath your feet to explode...
5) A sobering lesson for all you premature celebrators out there now. Never ever begin your elaborate routine to mark your latest strike until the ball has actually crossed the line - who knows it may not and then you'll look like a right old lemon. Much like Bury striker Danny Nardiello did here... (Big up to Extra Footie for this one)
