Top 10 things we learned watching Manchester United 3-2 Liverpool

West Ham earned their first point of the season after holding out for a draw with Stoke. But what did we learn from the game, asks Steve Anglesey?

1) Dimitar Berbatov's hairline might be receding, but his chances of being Manchester United's player of the season certainly aren't. In fact he was on widow's peak form.

2) Five words you only hear twice a season: Unbelievable atmosphere at Old Trafford.

3) Sir Alex Ferguson is coming out in sympathy with Triggs' bereaved owner Roy Keane. Neither of them seem to want to hang on to a lead anymore.

4) Great second goal celebration from Liverpool's Steven Gerrard. And as @foreveruntd pointed out on Twitter, the last time he kissed the cameras at Old Trafford, the home side were so shellshocked they only went on to win the League, the Carling Cup and reached the finals of the Champions League.

5) Manchester United's new Portuguese winger isn't as convincing a diver as their old Portuguese winger. In fact Cristiano Ronaldo's already phoned him to sing: "Oh Nani, You're Not The Daddy."

6) The first half was very one-sided. In fact United's possession percentage was second only to Paris Hilton's.

7) Howard Webb arguably turned the game when he refused to send off John O'Shea despite ample reason to do so. Where did he think he was, the World Cup final?

8) Meanwhile, cricket chiefs have named an Englishman involved in numerous unsuccessful attempts at spot fixing at Old Trafford. It was Luke Chadwick.

9) After the Great North Run, the Great South Stroll. You have to say that a Chelsea rout of Blackpool was about as nailed-on as a Gebrselassie win in Newcastle - Hailie unsurprising.

10) Manchester City fans went gaga for Yaya as the £220,000-a-week man scored his first goal. But if he goes up and down the divisions later in his career, will he have to change his name to Yoyo Toure?
