Watch the Top 10 group goal celebrations
It's not often the Icelandic league causes an internet sensation, but Johann Laxda's astonishing goal celebration from last weekend's clash between Stjaman and Fylkir has done just that.
But where does his fishy routine rate on MirrorFootball's all-time Top 10 group goal celebrations*? Let's have a look...
*Well, ok, all-time Top 10 group goal celebrations that we could find on YouTube so sadly no Corradi knighting Barton, Ian Wright re-enacting Paolo DiCanio's push on Paul Alcock or Francesco Totti simulating giving birth by the corner flag...
10) Ahn Jung-Hwan
Korean legend Ahn Jung-Hwan was so excited to score during the 2002 World Cup that he pulled off what is surely the world's only synchronised pretend speed skating routine to celebrate, in reference to a Winter Olympic controversy.
9) Papa Bouba Diop
Frankly, this Top 20 compilation could more or less fill the list itself, but we want to particularly draw your attention to the one at 1:17 involving everyone's favourite wardrobe, Papa Bouba Diop. We've all heard about women dancing around their handbags in nightclubs, but is this the first recorded incidence of men dancing around a football shirt?
8) Jurgen Klinsmann
The German star arrived in the UK with a reputation as something of a tumble. So what better way to celebrate his debut goal for Tottenham against Sheffield Wednesday than by theatrically falling to the turf? Well, how about leading his entire team in the best display of synchronised diving ever seen outside of Olympic competition.
7) Bebeto
Now a staple of any new father's repertoire, Brazilian Bebeto's rocking cradle celebration proved a global sensation when he first unveiled it after scoring against Holland in the 1994 World Cup finals.
6) Aylesbury United
Who said you had to score to do a celebration? When non-league Aylesbury United reached the FA Cup Third Round in 1995 against Premier League QPR, they were soundly beaten 4-0. However, this didn’t stop the plucky non-leaguers performing their signature goal celebration, which involved waddling on their knees in a duck like fashion. The reason? Well none, other than their nickname is the “ducks”.
5) Ken Ilso
The FC Midtjylland striker celebrated scoring his side's second goal against Danish league rivals FC Kobenhavn by arranging an impromptu game of ten-pin bowling. Let's just hope his manager didn't go 'spare' after the game...
4) Bajram Fetai
There must have been something in the water in Denmark that weekend. Here's Nordsjaelland striker Fetai scoring against his old club Silkeborg whom, it transpires, had previously sacked him for getting into a fight...
3) Jimmy Bullard
Football's reigning premier prankster pulled off one of the wittiest celebrations ever at Eastlands last year when he mimicked the infamous on-pitch half-time dressing down administered by Hull boss Phil Brown in the same stadium the previous season. Sadly the last laugh was on the Tigers as they were relegated the following spring.
2) Paul Gascoigne
There had been much ballyhoo prior to Euro 96 about the England players getting smashed on a pre-tournament trip to Hong Kong. Much of the angst had come after some of the players were pictured in a nightspot having taking advantage of the notorious 'Dentist's Chair' in which the boozer in question is strapped in and force fed spirits down his throat. (Sounds like the MirrorFootball Xmas party - Ed). So, after netting a stunning goal against Scotland at Wembley, Gazza sprawled to the turf flat on his back while his team-mates did this...
1) Johann Laxda
All well and good, we're sure you'll agree. But Laxdas elaborate fishing-themed routine takes the biscuit - not to mention the trout...
