The Plugger vs... Viv Anderson
You know how it is with celebrities these days - they're always trying to flog you something. Well, we thought it was about time they did something for us in return.
So, from now on, anyone wanting to hawk their wares on the pages of MirrorFootball will have to submit to an interrogation by The Plugger first.
If you want us to buy your DVD/book/video game/embossed tea-towel etc, then you need to tell us, amongst other things, if you've ever had sex in a football shirt. Seems like a fair deal, no?
Facing The Plugger today is: Former Arsenal, Man United, Nottingham Forest and England full-back Viv Anderson
1) Who is the dirtiest player you've ever seen?
Vinnie Jones would certainly be up there. I think you'd have to say his dirtiest moment was when he grabbed hold of Gazza by the whotsits!
2) What team do you have an irrational hatred of?
Wimbledon... the old Wimbledon, not the new one. They were certainly different to play against and we had many a run-in, famously with me and John Fashanu in the tunnel. They were a team you'd always be wary of, let's put it that way.
3) What's the weirdest place you've ever watched football?
In the toilet! Not in my toilet, I was at someone's house and they had a portable TV in the loo. I remember watching a Man United game in there once, years and years ago.
4) If you could change one thing about the game, what would you change?
I want to see an end to diving. It's a contentious issue and it's difficult for refs, but I played in an era when you just got up and got on with it. Players these days though roll around all over the place. So I'd try to outlaw that in some way. I don't know how, though...
5) Have you ever had a man-crush on a player?
Never in a million years! Having said that, maybe David Beckham...?!
6) If all the current Premier League managers had a cage fight, who would be the last man standing?
It would be between Sam Allardyce and Mick McCarthy. And if I have to pick a winner I'll go for Mick. He looks meaner.
7) Who is the Don of football commentators and pundits?
I do like Andy Gray. Having played the game, he talks a lot of sense.
8) What's the weirdest dream you've ever had about football?
I was about 13. I was watching a game in the stands and the ball can to me. I promptly volleyed into the net and that's how I got signed as a professional.
9) If you had your own football team, what would their nickname be?
The Spiders. I was nicknamed 'spider' during my playing days because of my long legs.
10) What's your keepy-up record? And are you any good at football video games?
My keepy-uppy record would be about 50-odd. Video games? Absolutely hopeless.
11) Have you ever cried because of a football match?
I've never cried, but I did get very emotional when David Beckham scored the equaliser for England against Greece that took us to the 2002 World Cup finals.
12) Have you ever lied to your partner to go and watch football?
All the time! I probably do it every week and I'm still getting away with it.
13) Who's the biggest **** in football?
Up to this season I'd say it would be Didier Drogba. Always moaning and diving. He does seem to have got his act together a bit more this season though.
14) What were your football superstitions?
I never used to like to receive the ball straight from kick off. I always wanted to get into the game in my own time.
15) What's the best goal you've ever scored?
Playing for England at Wembley in a World Cup qualifier. I was up for a corner and the ball was cleared out to Chris Waddle wide on the left. He crossed it back and I scored with a side-foot volley.
16) What's the worst away trip you've ever been on?
Away to Newcastle when I was 17. It was a Wednesday night in a League Cup game and I got absolute dog's abuse.
17) What goal have you celebrated the most and how did you celebrate it? Trevor Francis' goal in the 1979 European Cup final. He was about a million miles in front of me - he was at the far post on the right hand side and I was at right-back - but I got there pretty quickly to congratulate him.
18) Has a football kit ever featured in your intimate moments?
No, I don't think so. Can't recall the missus ever asking me to dress up in one of my old kits.
19) Have you ever supported another team apart from Arsenal?
No, I've always been a Man United fan. I went there when I was about 15 or 16 and used to watch the likes of Best, Law and Charlton training on he next pitch. And I've always stuck with them
20) What is the king of football food?
I like a steak and kidney pie and a Bovril.
