Victor who? The Top 10 things you need to know about Manchester City transfer target Victor Moses
Manchester City are reportedly ready to make a move for Crystal Palace wonder kid Victor Moses. But what do we know about the Selhurst Park youngster? Ian Cruise fills in the blanks...
1) Victor Moses was born on December 12, 1990 in Nigeria.
2) He moved to England when he was just 11 after his Christian minister, Austin, and his mother, Josephine, were murdered by Muslim rioters. He was playing football in the streets with a sticky tape ball when his uncle told him of his parents' death.
3) Moses was hidden by friends for a week before they could get him out of the warring country. He knew no-one in England. He was placed with foster parents in Croydon and classified as an asylum seeker.
4) He was spotted by Palace while he was playing in the local Tandridge Sunday League. The club's Selhurst Park ground is situated just street from his old school, Stanley technicla High (now known as the Harris Academy).
5) Shortly after he joined Palace' academy, the club recommended him to the fee-paying Whitgift School, where former Palace star Steve Kember and ex-Arsenal and Chelsea defender Colin Pates had been coaching the school team.
6) He first showed genuine signs of his precocious talents when, aged 14, he scored 50 goals for Palace's under-14 side.
7) He made his debut at 16, and has since been linked with moves to Arsenal, Chelsea, Wigan and now Tottenham.
8) He has represented England at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level.
9) He was part of the England team that reached the final of the 2007 UEFA Under-17 Championship, where they lost by a single goal to Spain. But Moses did have the consolation of winning the Golden Boot as the tournament's top scorer.
10) Moses, who can play on the left wing or as a central striker, signed a new four-year deal at Selhurst Park that will keep at him at Palace until 2012.
