10 things you need to know about Adam Johnson
Young Middlesbrough hotshot Adam Johnson took part in arguably the biggest deadline day deal when he moved from Middlesbrough to Manchester City for £7million.
The move will not only disappoint the Boro faithful, but also a host of other top flight clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United and Sunderland who were are chasing the young winger.
So City fans, what are you getting for your money? Read on for 10 things you need to know about the 22-year-old Boro star…
1) Born in Sunderland in July 1987, Johnson is a boyhood Manchester United fan.
2) He was a member of the Middlesbrough team that won the FA Youth Cup in 2004, alongside Boro team-mate David Wheater.
3) He made his first-team debut at the age of just 17 years 246 days, as a substitute against Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Cup in 2005.
4) In 2007, he had a spell on loan at Leeds, scoring five goals in 12 appearances.
5) He has 19 caps for the England U21 team, and has scored four goals.
6) He was a member of the England U21 team that reached the final of the European Championship against Germany in June 2009.
7) He is something of a penalty shoot-out specialist, having scored from the spot with Boro and England.
8) He scored five goals in the first six games of the season for Boro, including two against Swansea City.
9) He prefers to play on the left wing, but can also operate on the right.
10) In 2008, it was reported that Spanish giants Real Madrid were monitoring his progress. He has also been linked with moves to Everton, Tottenham and Sunderland.
