The Top 10 summer transfer window signings in Europe

The Premier League's transfer window may have fizzled out like a a cheap firework but, the sparks have been flying across the channel with several of Europe's leading clubs making the sort of explosive transfers that only the movers and sheikers at Man City can compete with.

MirrorFootball's Richard Arrowsmith looks at the Top 10 marquee signings that have taken place outside of the Premier League...

10) Simon Kjaer (Palermo to Wolfsburg)
The Germans managed to pull off a coup by taking the highly rated Danish defender from under the noses of Manchsester United, Liverpool and AC Milan

9) Loic Remy (Nice to Marseille)
Linked with loads of Premier League clubs during the summer, the young striker was eventually tempted to stay in France with Marseille - despite being diagnosed with a heart defect

8) Milos Krasic (CSKA Moscow to Juventus)
The Old Lady spent months haggling over the Serbian winger but finally got the man they hope will fill Pavel Nedved's boots.

7) Johan Gourcuff (Bordeaux to Lyon)
Billed as the 'next Zidane' upon first breaking through, Gourcuff was identified as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas should he leave Arsenal.

6) Diego (Juventus to Wolfsburg)
The Brazilian is back in the Bundesliga after a disappointing time in Italy - putting him in the exalted company of such talents as Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry and, er, Paul Ince.

5) Robinho (Manchester City to AC Milan)
The Premier League's most expensive flop arrived to complete Milan's new look attack for less than half what Manchester City paid for his services two years ago. He's probably out celebrating at a club with Ronaldinho already.

4) Javier Mascherano (Liverpool to Barcelona)
Argentina's anchor man left Merseyside on bad terms but took a pay cut to join Barcelona where his wife will no doubt feel more at home.

3) Mesut Ozil (Werder Bremen to Real Madrid)
Jose Mourinho won the race to sign Germany's playmaker in a cut price deal after his impressive performances at the World Cup.

2) David Villa (Valencia to Barcelona)
Barcelona's attempt seemingly to buy the entire Spanish World Cup winning team continued apace with the capture of this diminutive but lethal goal scoring machine from cash strapped Valencia.

1) Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Barcelona to AC Milan)
The cocksure Swede couldn't adapt to Barcelona's pretty passing but he's a proven force in Serie A and is bound to bag goals for his second Milan club.
