Maicon will stay at Inter Milan

Maicon's transfer saga seems to have finally come to an end, with the Inter Milan defender staying put at the San Siro.

The Brazil international was a target of Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

"Above everything, the wish of the player is to remain at Inter," said Maicon's agent Antonio Caliendo to Gazzetta dello Sport.

"(Inter president Massimo) Moratti and coach (Jose) Mourinho are aware they have the strongest full-back in the world.

"I truly believe that this saga is over."

Maicon, who shone at the Confederations Cup with Brazil this month, demanded a pay increase from Inter although the club did not give in to the 27-year-old's demands.

Maicon is under contract with Inter until June 2013.
