Burnley by David Anderson
1) Was the season a success or failure?
After a flying start at Turf Moor, the season nosedived spectacularly, culminating in relegation. Their away form was woeful, even under Coyle, and they managed just one league win on the road. 3/10

2) How did the managers do?
Burnley's head was above water when Laws took over from Coyle in January, but his record of two wins from his 18 games in charge meant they sank without a trace. Owen Coyle 7/10 Brian Laws 2/10

3) Player of the season: Steven Fletcher
The Scotland international's form was a rare highlight for the Clarets and he is their top scorer with 12 goals in his first season in the Premier League. 7/10

4) Villain of the season: Clarke Carlisle
The accident prone defender had a nightmare in the big games and conceded two penalties in their home defeat to Portsmouth and scored an own goal in their loss at Wolves. Should stick to playing Countdown . 3/10

5) Best signing: Steven Fletcher
Cost a club record £3million from Hibernian in the summer and proved he can cut it in the top flight. Performed so well that he could be set for a reunion with Coyle at Bolton. 7

6) Worst signing: Leon Cort
Laws' big signing, Cort cost £1.5million from Stoke in January. The Clarets should demand their money back after a number of poor displays. 4/10

7) Best game
Burnley 1-0 Manchester United, August 18, 2009: this was the match that marked Burnley's return to the big time. Robbie Blake scored as they beat the champions in front of a raucous Turf Moor in their first ever Premier League home game. Unfortunately it was all downhill from here.

8) Worst game
Burnley 1-6 Manchester City, April 3, 2010: four-nil down after 20 minutes and 5-0 at half-time, it's hard to think of a more abject home performance this season.

9) Funniest moment of the season
Kevin McDonald going to a pub near Turf Moor to watch the second half of the City debacle on TV after being subbed.

10) Key lessons to be learned
Burnley should learn that cheapest isn't necessarily the best when it comes to appointing managers. They should axe Brian Laws and allow the new man free reign to overhaul their squad with so many players out of contract.
