England want German striker: 10 things you need to know about Three Lions' target Aaron Hunt
But how much do you know about the 23-year-old forward? MirrorFootball fills in the blanks...
1) Hunt was born on September 4, 1986 in Goslar, a town at the northwestern foot of the Lower Saxon Hills.
2) He played for VfL Oker and GSC Goslar as a youth player before signing for Werder Bremen in 2001. His current contract expires next summer.
3) He made his Bundesliga debut on September 18, 2004 as a substitute against Hannover 96.
4) He made his first start five months later, on February 12, 2005, against Borussia Moenchengladbach. He marked the occasion by scoring his first goal for the club, making him becoming Werder Bremen's youngest-ever goalscorer at the age of 18 years, 161 days.
5) Early in 2006, he suffered a mysterious knee injury, which turned out to be bursitis - an inflammation of one or more bursae (small sacs) of synovial fluid. It caused him to miss the remainder of the 2005-06 season.
6) Mainly used as a striker, Hunt has also played on the wing and as an attacking midfielder.
7) He has represented Germany at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-21 level.
8) He played against England's Under-21s in a European Championship qualification play-off match at Coventry's Ricoh Arena in October 2006.
9) He qualifies for the Three Lions through his English mother. Her family all live in London.
10) In November 2006, he was charged by UEFA for serious unsporting behaviour after complaints of racist remarks during the second leg of that Under-21 play-off against England. He was banned for two games, but successfully appealed the decision and the suspension was dropped.
