Stop charging Harrods prices while shopping at Primark - a five-point plan for fixing awful Arsenal
Arsene Wenger must make radical changes to transform Arsenal’s fortunes after their four-goal thrashing by AC Milan in the Champions League.
Here are five ways to improve things:
1) Major investment in his squad in the summer to ensure Arsenal again become players in the title race - which is the biggest factor in the battle to keep Robin van Persie. Arsenal have got their sights set on Mario Gotze, Lukas Podolski and Matias Suarez and need to spend big to rebuild.
2) Clear out the dead wood. Andrey Arshavin, Abou Diaby and Marouane Chamakh could have gone last summer. Wenger now needs to clear the decks so he can freshen up the dressing room with new faces. The biggest battle Arsenal face is finding clubs who will take on their cast-offs' huge wages. Diaby is on £60,000-a-week and there were no takers for him last summer.
3) Appoint a new number two. Long-serving Pat Rice is set to go this summer. He nearly quit last year and wants to retire. Wenger needs a new assistant with a strong enough voice to challenge him and the players. Steve Bould is a popular choice from within the club.
4) Freeze season-ticket prices to keep the fans onside and stop attendances falling further - empty seats have become a major worry at the Emirates during recent games. Price rises last summer caused a backlash - fans pay Harrods prices and yet the club shops at Primark.
5) The board need to ensure Wenger will spend on new players and the big contracts that come with them - impressive profit figures each season do not go down well with fans. Last summer, Wenger dithered in the transfer market when the club's hierarchy assured him there was money to spend on replacing the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.
