The Premier League Team of the Decade, as selected by John Cross

Premier League Team of the Decade (4-4-2) : Petr Cech; Gary Neville, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole; David Beckham, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs; Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp.

This team is made up of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal legends only and I make no apologies for that as they have been the most successful - and therefore the best sides - of the past decade.

In fact, it's not about who is in the line-up, but more about who misses out. Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Patrick Vieira, Didier Drogba and Cristiano Ronaldo would make the best bench in Premier League history.

So let's start with the goalkeeper. Despite his current form, Petr Cech has been consistently the best keeper, and he just edges out Shay Given.

Gary Neville has been superb at right back, the best of his generation. For me, the rest of the back four is a no-brainer. They are world class, in particular Ashley Cole, a magnificent left-back. The best in the world, bar none.

In midfield, Beckham gets the nod ahead of Ronaldo for his dead ball and crossing ability. Roy Keane is the ultimate midfield warrior, Paul Scholes, the ultimate attacking midfielder, and Ryan Giggs, Mr Consistency.

Thierry Henry is Arsenal's record goalscorer and the reason for many of their amazing successes.

Dennis Bergkamp was probably at his best in the 90s, but still gets in as he's probably just behind Henry as the best ever foreign import. Mind you, leaving out Ruud van Nistelrooy was another hard one.
