Foxes boss doesn't suffer questioning fools gladly

All roads lead to pound signs for Mike Ashley

Norwich striker always looks on the gripe side of life

We’re used to managers kicking off with the press for no real reason but Leicester City’s Nigel Pearson had good cause to be miffed as he met the media before what turned out to be a memorable win at Norwich.

The local TV station sent just a cameraman with a list of questions on his iPhone and their one-on-one chat went something like this…

Question one: “How disappointed were you that Leicester were unable to take advantage of the sending off in midweek when you lost at Watford?”

Pearson: “Well, the player got sent off in the 93rd minute…”

Question two: “How important is the game this weekend for moving up the table?”

Pearson: Well, it’s a Cup game so you need to do your homework (gets up and leaves).

PS: Credit Andre Villas-Boas with good manners. Not only did he willingly answer questions about his supposed rift with Jose Mourinho last week, but he showed nary of flicker of annoyance when Sky Sports’ Fraser Robertson asked him a couple of follow-ups… and accidentally twice called him “Jose” during their interview!

Disturbing scenes at Talksport – and we’re not referring to a very public Goodison press box spat between former colleagues Mike Parry and Stan Collymore on Saturday.

Weekend host and Daft Quotes regular Micky Quinn is enjoying some time off after a harrowing incident in which he nipped to the loo during an advertising break and realised he was locked in. Despite the improved quality of the ensuing broadcast, colleagues freed him some minutes later by kicking the door in.

WICKED WHISTLE

Which surprise managerial sacking was no shock to the local car dealership? The unlucky gaffer in question had been bugging them for three weeks about why his new company BMW hadn’t been delivered yet – and they didn’t have the heart to tell him it was because his chairman had blocked the order…
