Liverpool target Charlie outed as a United fan

Blackpool appear to be resorting to sneaky tricks in their battle to keep Charlie Adam out of the clutches of Liverpool.

Last week's matchday programme for the visit of Manchester United contained an interview with Adam in which the midfielder proclaimed his love of Manchester United, stating he is "a regular visitor to Old Trafford when the Seasiders aren't in action".

Bound to endear him to the Anfield faithful.

An unfortunate moment on BBC kids' spin-off show 'MOTD Kickabout', in which Manchester City's Adam Johnson was asked to name his best friend in football.

The young winger, out for three months with ankle ligament damage, thought deeply for a few seconds before quietly replying: “Andrew Taylor” - after which the host interjected: “He took his time to think of his best friend, didn't he? So lonely!”

There's another reason for Johnson's hesitancy, however – as Football365.com pointed out, he could just have been thinking of Rushden keeper Dale Roberts, widely mentioned as Johnson's best friend in football before his death by suicide in December.
