Robbie Savage's night of passion... with a treatment table!

One magic moment was missing from the Mirror's serialisation of Robbie Savage's new book last week.

In autobiography Savage!, the former Manchester United apprentice describes the bizarre initiations Old Trafford kids had to go through in the days of the Fergie Fledglings - including having the Red Devil logo rubbed on their bare chests with a wire brush and spending a couple of minutes inside a locked a spinning tumble drier.

But nothing beats the bizarre ritual of 'Shag The Bed', which involved chatting up a mop before being led to what Robbie describes as "a treatment table with a hole in"...

No wonder Paul Scholes always looks so haunted.

Memo to singer Beverley Knight: Best not ask for hospitality at Birmingham City this season.

The Midlands warbler is not too popular at St Andrews after charging £15,000 to play a 30-minute set at their end-of-season bash in May, then filing an expense claim for £200 of petrol money.

After the departure of buxom MUTV newsreader Hayley McQueen to Sky Sports News - prompting one fan on United's official message board to write "I'm cancelling my subscription to use my hand elsewhere" - the Glazers' Pravda channel is trying out the lovely Amanda Protheroe-Thomas as a replacement.

No doubt fans will take her to heart. Especially when they find out she supports... Liverpool.
