Greek god Socrates remembered and why Wolves legend's restaurant is a load of Bull

Socrates, who has died aged 57, lived life to the full.

One of his final interviewers recalls how their chat in a restaurant was continually interrupted as the great man seized upon female customers and attempted to impress them by reciting self-written but undoubtedly stylish “love poetry”.

When asked why, the legend’s reply was simple: “I like to breed.”

Congratulations to Wolves legend Steve Bull on the opening of his new eaterie Bravaccio’s Ristorante in Tettenhall.

As the name suggests, it’s an Italian joint and those fearing the worst after Bully’s recent musings on his dream dinner guests (“if he was alive, Muhammad Ali”) will be heartened to know that Bravaccio’s authentic signature dish is… a beefburger.

Mamma mia!

Steve Bruce’s enforced lay-off might give the big man time to catch up on modern technology. Not only did the sacked Sunderland boss not understand Twitter (“telling you my whereabouts or that I've just had my Weetabix is, for me, farcical stuff,” he said earlier this year) but it was only in summer, when the club bought him an iPad, that he worked out how to read and send emails.
