Man United fans graffiti mission goes wrong, plus French respond to Beckham snub

Congratulation to the brave guerrilla army of Manchester United fans who visited the Eastlands area on Friday night to spray-paint local pubs with ‘MUFC’ ahead of yesterday’s derby.

Unfortunately, the intellectually-challenged bunch have posted photos of their graffiti – together with messages inviting Blues to enjoy their handiwork – on their own Facebook pages. Which means they have virtually guaranteed themselves a visit from ‘The Dibble’ soon.

Manchester is known as the Rainy City, but that matters little to the health and safety brigade at Old Trafford. Punters who arrive for matches clutching brollies are now refused entry until they traipse off to an Official Umbrella Collection Point, where they must deposit the dangerous item and pick it up after the game.

How are Parisians taking their public snub by David Beckham? With the same amount of Gallic sneering which you might have expected.

TV pundit Thierry Roland – think Micky Quinn if he swapped the pasties for pastis – snorted: "I'm afraid there's always a problem when you let the wives tell footballers what to do”, while Canal Plus news’ take was that “the Beckhams clearly prefer McDonald’s to cassoulet”.
