Whatever happened to Harry Redknapp's video game crusade?

In 2007, one top Premier League manager began a crusade against video game culture, saying: "Nowadays I rarely see a kickabout in the park. All I see are the dazzling lights of bedroom windows from the glare of TVs and computers. It seems football cannot compete with an Xbox."

A year later, the same boss was explaining his habit of signing foreign players over young English talent with the words: "Kids don't spend as much time playing football as they used to, they have other distractions, like computer games."

All has been quiet on the subject from Harry Redknapp since - but perhaps he's been too busy starring in adverts for Nintendo's Wii before moving on to promote SEGA's brilliant Football Manager game.

"I've got plenty of years experience in football management so hopefully I'll be able to pass on some valuable words of wisdom," beamed consistent 'Arry.
