Sorry Michael Owen, Newcastle fans DO know the facts - you were the biggest waste of money in the club's history!
The most vicious abuse I have ever heard directed against a former Newcastle United player returning to St James' Park was aimed at Michael Owen.
It certainly wasn't pleasant to hear- a relentless tirade that upset the Magpies record buy so much that he was moved to moan about it on Twitter.
And he told my Daily Mirror colleague Oliver Holt that had the Toon Army known the full facts their hostile reaction may have been different.
Sorry, Michael. The Geordie fans know their football and are well aware of their reasons for showing you such vociferous disapproval - you were the biggest waste of money in the club's history!
They know you cost £16million. They know you were paid more than £20million for your four years on Tyneside. They know you played in 71 Premier League games and scored 26 goals.
They know that you didn't engage with either them directly as fans or through the media. They know, like Liverpool fans before them, you always created an impression you were more interested in playing for England. They know you became captain and walked out on them at the first opportunity when you led them to relegation and Championship football.
And they know that every league game you played cost the club around £500,000 and every goal you scored, even with a decent strike rate, was costed at more than £1.3milion.
Allowances were made for your problems with injuries, but it can't hide the fact that when compared with your fellow England striker Alan Shearer you come out a poor second best on every count - apart from being more expensive.
The facts are already out there, Michael.
