Why Evertonians unhappy with their owner need only look at Blackburn
David Moyes walked out of Ewood Park at half-time on Tuesday in disgust at the abuse being hurled at Steve Kean.
I wonder if, as he drove home, he pondered what might have been with him.
Much of the hate pouring from all parts of Ewood Park is aimed over Kean’s head at the owners.
It is the Venkys group, not Kean, most fans blame for the demise of Blackburn, partly because the absentee owners have kept their manager in the firing line to take all of the flak.
Plenty of Evertonians attack Bill Kenwright over his snail-like progress in selling the club. Plenty more defend him on the grounds they would rather have him in charge than some dubious foreigners with no connection to Goodison and little in their pockets to turn round their fortunes.
Although I back the right of fans’ groups like Blue Union to protest against Kenwright, a quick glance at Blackburn offers support to those who say “better the owner you know than the owners who know nothing about you. And care even less.”
Maybe that explains why Moyes has been happy to stay put.

Who would have thought a month ago Alan Pardew would be walking back to the St James’ Park dressing-room before Christmas with boos ringing in his ears.
Which is what happened on Wednesday (although some fans say it was aimed at the referee).
The one consolation for Pardew is he can now turn to Mike Ashley and say, “I’ve shown you I can put a run of results together, so give me the £35million Andy Carroll money you promised me a year ago, and watch me go again.” Good luck with that, Alan.
