New crisis such a pity for Manchester City

Went to Eastlands to watch the Manchester City-AC Milan friendly on Saturday for Channel 5 and while there are some positives for City fans to look forward to on the pitch, I'm a little worried about what may happen off it.
I'm told by a reliable source that Stephen Ireland and Vedran Corluka, two of City's better players, may be sold off in a fire sale to raise funds and lower their wage bill and that is worrying.
City, if they are to keep pace with Villa, Pompey, Blackburn and Spurs, need to be adding players to their squad right now, not selling.
Add to that, no Martin Petrov in such a high profile game after an excellent pre-season, and I'd be concerned that the excellent second-half performance that City put in against Milan could be undone before the big opener against Villa next Saturday.
