Hull boss deserved a drop of the black stuff after getting out of the Brown stuff
I'm still not convinced that Phil Brown is the right man to lead Hull, but he deserves credit for surviving the toughest fortnight of his managerial career.
Brown was deeply wounded by the resignation of close ally Paul Duffen as chairman and privately must have wondered if he would be next out the door at the KC Stadium.
He kept it together during the defeat at Burnley, which could easily have been a Graham Taylor "do I not like that moment", when everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.
And he bounced back by leading the Tigers to a priceless victory against Stoke on Sunday.
OK, he pulled a strop when he declined to speak to the media afterwards as his way of answering back everyone who had written him off.
But he deserved his moment of glory, which he savoured in his office with a pint of Guinness, and at least he didn't grab a microphone and start singing again.
