Hull's loyalty to Phil Brown is admirable - but they might stay up if they sacked him
I don't quite know what to make of Paul Duffen's unstinting support for his pal Phil Brown.
On the one hand, in this age of knee-jerk sackings, it's good to see a chairman stand by his manager.
Duffen hasn't forgotten that Hull were in danger of slipping into League One when he appointed Brown as boss nearly three years ago.
Brown kept them up that season, won promotion to the top flight the next and avoided the drop last time round.
So, in Duffen's eyes, Brown is still very much in credit from his three years at the KC.
On the other hand, Hull look like they are only heading one way this season and just three league wins in 2009 tells its own story.
What's more they can't rely on Newcastle to save them this time.
Maybe Duffen thinks Brown is still the right man for Hull, even if they are relegated, because he believes in his long-term vision for the club.
But I can't help but think that if he acted now, then Hull would have a better chance of avoiding the drop.
