Why all football fans should care what happens to Chester - it could be your club next
Not too many people probably noticed last week, but Mick Wadsworth was sacked by Chester after just three months in the job.
Chester, for those of you not au fait with the plight of the club, began life in the Conference on minus 25 points following relegation from the Football League last season.
They broke various rules for going into administration and were effectively relegated to the Conference North before a ball had been kicked.
So what you may say, but we should be bothered about Chester and the fate of small clubs like them.
Chester was where Ian Rush started out in the days when they played at Sealand Road, which is now a Tesco Extra store.
Lee Dixon played for them and Stoke's Danny Collins career took off after a successful spell there five years ago.
The point is, clubs like Chester are nurseries for young talent and without them future stars could be lost.
So we should give a damn if Chester are in terminal decline because we don't know which club could be next.
