Alex Ferguson's double standards and hypocrisy will come back to bite him

You've got to laugh at Sir Alex Ferguson's audacious double standards and hypocrisy, which reached new heights on Manchester United's Champions League trip to Moscow last week.

The press conference ahead of the CSKA Moscow game was going well until yours truly asked Fergie for a reaction to his FA improper conduct charge following his post-match comments on ref Alan Wiley's lack of fitness after the 2-2 draw with Sunderland.

Fergie's face turned its familiar Chianti-colour as he dismissed the question, branding it "silly", despite it being the first chance we'd had to speak with him since the charge and were therefore duty-bound to raise the subject.

The United boss brought the press conference to an abrupt end, leaving his bemused Russian hosts in the dark as to why the grumpy pensioner sat in front of them had suddenly got up and left his seat.

Unfortunately Fergie, as you will find out with your imminent punishment from the FA for opening your mouth to deliver an outrageous slur on a competent official, there are no such things as silly questions - just silly answers.
