Gary Cook's latest gaffe shows Manchester City are finding it hard to escape United's shadow

The latest gaffe from Garry Cook, Manchester City's error-prone executive chairman, gave fresh ammunition to Sir Alex Ferguson's claim that their neighbours are obsessed with United.

It followed a similar gaffe by Sven Goran Eriksson when he was in charge of City and proved, no matter how much money they spend or rhetoric they spout about becoming a major force, escaping from the shadow of their more illustrious neighbours may be harder than the Blues think.
