Rooney to Real rumours was a deliberate distraction by Bernabeu bosses

Linking Wayne Rooney with Real Madrid suited the Bernabeu hierarchy last week – it distracted attention from their Champions League fiasco, which is why they leaked it in the first place.
But a distraction is all it is. Madrid know that unlike Ronaldo, Manchester United is Roo’s dream club. In fact, a Barca player tells me Rooney was so surprised by the claim he has been calling pals in Spain to see what the fuss was about.
