Why Arteta should NOT play for England and Tevez is a mercenary
Mikel Arteta is a wonderful player, an admirable character.
He’s aligned himself to an outstanding manager, David Moyes.
But Spain’s strength limits his ambitions to helping Everton over achieve.
Steven Gerrard wants Arteta alongside him in the England team. He qualifies because of residency rules.
Bureaucratic niceties aside, he’s not English, never will be.
Sad, but true.
**********
Carlos Tevez is like a washing machine or a saloon car.
The Argentina striker has what’s known in the trade as built-in obsolescence. A couple of years, and it is wise to begin looking for a new model.
Sorry City fans, that’s the way of your world.
Ignore the crocodile tears about giving up the game in despair.
Tevez is a mercenary. He’s following a business plan, not a career path.
