Why Roy Hodgson deserves his shot at redemption and I can't wait for Arsenal vs Barcelona

Sometimes, you do wonder about their sanity.

Roy Hodgson was a nervous wreck by the time he was ushered out of Anfield.

He doesn’t need the money, or the aggravation.

Yet he ran into the burning building that is West Bromwich Albion.

Managers are mad. Utterly, wonderfully, mad.

Roy deserves his shot at redemption.

Simplicity, they say, is genius.

Here’s Xavi, on what is expected of a Barcelona player: Think, see the space, pass.

Here’s Pep Guardiola on what that sounds like: “Pam-pam-pam-pam-pam-pam-pam-pam.”

Opponents can’t get the noise out of their heads. I know we live in an age of hype and empty celebrity. But Wednesday’s game at Arsenal will be a cross between performance art and a coaching session. Can’t wait.
