Why Everton deserve credit for Merseyside derby win and Charles N'Zogbia has no class

Lost in the hand-wringing over Liverpool’s display in the Merseyside derby was just how well Everton had performed.

Their early season form has been even harder to comprehend than that of city rivals Liverpool. But I still think Everton have the quality to finish in the top six or better.

That’s because they have a boss like David Moyes at the helm and indomitable players such as Phil Neville, Phil Jagielka, Mikel Arteta and Tim Cahill.

Some modern footballers, usually players who possess class on and off the pitch, refuse to celebrate when they score against their old team.

Charles N’Zogbia conspicuously failed to follow that trend when he scored for Wigan against old mates Newcastle on Saturday. No surprise there, sadly.
