Why QPR's loss is Leeds's gain where Warnock is concerned

It didn’t take Neil Warnock long to get another job. He’s a superb manager and a top bloke. It’s taken a while for people to recognise those qualities but better late than never. QPR’s loss is Leeds' gain.

A few weeks ago, I was a judge for the Football League awards.

My category involved the best work done by a club in its community.

There were many outstanding entries and one of them was Portsmouth.

The club’s promotion of education in the city through an emphasis on its maritime heritage was inspirational.

So when I heard Portsmouth had gone into administration again, I thought of all the fine work that club is doing and how it deserves an awful lot better than owners that keep letting it down.

I’m glad Keith Curle has been appointed manager of Notts County.

He is a good coach with a fine reputation who deserved another shot at management. Now three of our 92 league clubs have black managers.

How sad that three out of 92 represents a kind of progress.

Success in sport brings its share of resentment.

Manchester United fans recognise this sentiment with the acronym ABU (anyone but United).

Their closest NFL equivalent, the most successful team of recent years, are the New England Patriots.

They, too, attract fans who love to hate them. Patriots fans call them the Hate-riots.
