Why Arsenal fans wanting Wenger out should be careful what they wish for

The failure to beat Blackburn Rovers on Saturday evening was a bitter blow for Arsenal but I still find it strange that some fans at the Emirates think Arsene Wenger is no longer the right man to lead the club.

Wenger has made mistakes this season that are particularly frustrating because they were so easy to predict.

His failure to buy a top-line goalkeeper and a top quality centre half appears to have cost the club the title this season.

But let’s not forget that with a fraction of the money spent by both Chelsea and Manchester City, Arsenal are still second.

Their young players are getting better and better and they are getting closer and closer to the title.

Surely their defensive inconsistencies this season will encourage Wenger to rectify them in the summer.

If he does, Arsenal will be right in the mix again next season. With the glorious football his team plays, that prospect is more than enough to encourage the hope that he stays.

The day Wenger leaves the Emirates is the day Arsenal fans should really start to worry.

It was reported yesterday that AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi, currently embroiled in a series of sex scandals, said he would never let the club sign Mario Balotelli because of the Manchester City player’s bad behaviour.

Was that a late April Fool?
