Why Strachan is wrong - for once - about Kris Boyd
It takes a lot of thought and consideration to disagree with Gordon Strachan.
What he hasn’t achieved in football is probably not worth bothering about.
A place in the Scotland Hall of Fame with 50 caps and a glittering club career at Manchester United, Aberdeen, Dundee, Leeds and Coventry, make him a giant.
However some of his signings at Middlesbrough result in a little spot of head scratching.
Lee Miller took a bit of understanding, as did Willo Flood and Chris Killen... Now Edinburgh-born Strachan has signed his exact opposite.
He has signed a player who has an aversion to hard work on the pitch, turned his back on his country and was left out of big games by a previous manager.
So when he says that Kris Boyd is one of the best strikers in Europe, he is wrong –although the player may be one of the best goal scorers.
