Becks knew exactly what he was doing with that scarf, plus Jose's for Real
David Beckham would have to be very naïve not to know the meaning behind that green and gold scarf he wore at Old Trafford on Wednesday night – and Becks is not a naïve man.
I played alongside him in Manchester United's youth team and there was no bigger United fan among us. He was obsessed with the club and I'm told he still is.
So I'm sure he knew exactly what he was doing when he wore the colours associated with the anti-Glazer campaign.
None of the current United players could get away with putting on green and gold in public but David has done it for them.

Real Madrid are out of the Champions League before the quarter-finals for the sixth time in six years and there's only one man who can put it right.
Manuel Pelligrini now looks doomed as coach at the Berneabeu and there's bound to be speculation that Real will go back to make a fifth approach for Arsene Wenger.
The Arsenal manager is among the very best but for me they should move heaven and earth to get Jose Mourinho in.
It's a win-win situation for the club and for Jose. Real's attacking play is wonderful – and Cristiano Ronaldo is having another brilliant season – but the defensive side of their game is not there.
Mourinho would fix that, and with the likes of Kaka and Ronaldo at his disposal he could also lay to rest the idea that he can only produce stubborn, defensively-minded teams who win ugly.

Even as a Wrexham lad, I'm gutted to see Chester City going out of business.
I've been to a few Chester v Wrexham derbies and they're always a big buzz. It's a rivalry based on pure hatred.
There were 8,000 there last time and I know the Wrexham fans will be as sad as anyone to see those big days disappear as their arch-enemies drop out of the Conference.
City have had some great players down the years. There's Ian Rush, of course, and I grew up a big fan of Ian Bennett, who I've seen playing in the derby for both clubs.
Good luck to the people who are trying to revive the club from scratch.
