Robbie's story of the week: A tale to put football into perspective
When we play Sheffield United tomorrow lunchtime I’ll be looking a bit goofier and blonder than usual as I had another of my teeth done and my hair highlighted on Thursday.
People often ask me why I don’t get my hair cut shorter. My reply? “Because no one would recognise me then!” My hair is just me. When I’m older I’ll still have long, flowing grey locks like Richard Branson’s.
But tomorrow is about so much more than my barnet and a tough game against a strong, physical team.
I’ll be leading the Rams out alongside four-year-old Lewis Paul Mighty, who’s been diagnosed with stage four high risk neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer which affects the under-fives.
Lewis’s family need to raise £300,000 for him to have special treatment in the States which he can’t get in Europe.
If every fan in the ground gives just a quid to our collectors on Saturday we’ll bring in £20,000, and all the players and staff will be doing our bit too.
