Sol Campbell deserves respect for not cheating Notts County

Sol Campbell is going to get a lot of stick for walking out on Notts County but give the bloke some respect.

I warned Sol in this column four weeks ago that the culture shock of dropping into League Two would make life there much harder than playing in the Premier League, and it looks like that's how it's turned out.

It would have been very easy for Sol, reportedly on a five-year contract worth £40,000 a week, to simply shut up and take the money. There's plenty out there who would.

Instead he has gone for a clean break that doesn't benefit him as he can't sign for anyone else until January.
