The night I played Snow White for Sir Alex... with Beckham as my dwarf!
You didn't see the Derby County Christmas party on the front pages this year. We had a great, quiet night out in Alderley Edge which brought all the boys together and our results since – beating Reading, drawing with West Brom and Preston – reflect that.
Of course, not every club Christmas party I've been to has ended up like that. You'll have to wait for my autobiography next year for full details, but I'll never forget the year at Manchester United when all the apprentices had to do a panto for the senior team.
To the great amusement of Sir Alex Ferguson, Mark Hughes, Ryan Giggs and the rest, I came on stage dressed as Snow White with my dwarves – including David Beckham – behind me. That's how well Becks' career has gone – he started on stage with me and ended up on stage with an even better-looking blonde, Charlize Theron, calling him “sweetheart” at the World Cup draw!
Another great party was the Blackburn Rovers fancy dress night when we ended up in Manchester city centre. I was dressed up as Scooby-Doo.
You can imagine the kind of chants and cat-calls I normally get on a night out, but this time, instead of the usual, we were stood outside a bar with the whole crowd chanting, “Scooby-Doo is a w****r”!
COME FOR A PUKKA NIGHT OUT WITH ME
Looking forward to a pukka trip to the snooker this weekend for the final of the Pukka Pies UK Snooker Championships in Telford.
Pukka Pies have asked me along as a VIP guest (they couldn't get anyone else !!) to be at Sunday's final.
I'm a big snooker fan ... I used to play for up to four hours a day after training when I was at Crewe many moons ago and my highest break is 73.
As a special bonus, for all my loyal readers, I can offer you the chance to win a VIP day out at Sunday's final for a pair of tickets to both sessions of the final, a backstage tour, access to the players lounge, a signed cue, poster and souvenir programme.
Simply answer the following question: I won a League Cup medal with which club?
