Avram Grant will steady Portsmouth's sinking ship
Avram Grant is back in the English game and I am delighted.
The likeable former Chelsea manager is bottom club Portsmouth’s new director of football to assist Paul Hart.
And he will give Hart and the Pompey players all the support they need in their bid for Premier League survival.
He knows our game inside out and as part of his English football education was at the famous Liverpool 4-3 Newcastle game when I scored a late winner.
Thankfully for Portsmouth it now seems as though the nonsense which accompanied the serial self-publicist Sulaiman Al Fahim is over as well.
Al Fahim always seemed a complete cowboy to me and while I know little at the moment about the new owner Ali Al-Faraj, he must be better!
And with Peter Storrie staying and the club’s magnificent supporters, Pompey should get back to some form of stability on and off the pitch.
