Hull's Phil Brown is just what the Premier League needs and he should keep his job
Phil Brown's job prospects at Hull appear dire following Paul Duffen’s exit and Adam Pearson’s imminent return as chairman.
But I really hope Pearson’s first job is not to administer the bullet to Brown, who has been in charge since December 2006.
I had a few phone calls from Hull fans on Saturday night and they seem to be split 50/50 about whether Brown should go.
Some seem to think Brown has to be sacked because he can’t motivate the players.
But I don’t think that is the case and reckon it must be virtually impossible for a manager to perform while he has the sword of Damocles hanging over him.
I feel sorry for Brown after Hull’s latest loss at Burnley because I actually think he is exactly what English football needs.
He is a fantastic antidote to the boring managers, who for the most part occupy Premier League jobs.
Brown is cocky and brash and says it how it is which upsets a lot of people.
But who else is going to come in at Hull and do better?
Alan Curbishley didn’t exactly cover himself in glory at West Ham, while Aidy Boothroyd’s tactics wouldn’t go down well in terms of style of football.
Paul Jewell worked with Pearson before but they didn’t enjoy any success together at Derby.
I think there is definitely a case for Brown staying until Christmas at least and long may he continue to be a Premier League.
