I won't cry for Argentina - or Cristiano Ronaldo - if they don't make World Cup
I am already excited about the World Cup but many people are busy lamenting the possibility of Lionel Messi or Cristian Ronaldo missing the occasion.
Argentina, whose star player is Messi, kept their World Cup qualification hopes in their own hands with a dramatic 2-1 win over Peru.
While Portugal and Ronaldo got a lifeline by beating Hungary to go second in Group One.
There remains a chance both countries may not reach South Africa but personally I won’t complain if they miss out.
It will mean more of a chance for a Wayne Rooney or Theo Walcott to make the step up into the world-class ranks.
And in every World Cup I’ve seen there’s always been a new star waiting to be unearthed.
Remember Toto Schillaci? Roger Milla?
