Maybe Liverpool fans will now accept I was right about their two-man team

I got a bit of stick last week from a few Liverpool fans for daring to suggest they were a two-man team.

I wrote that without Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard, my old team look incapable of beating the other best teams.

Various Liverpool fans gave me abuse and accused me of writing rubbish.

But I suggest if any of those fans saw the performance at Fiorentina in the Champions League then they might like to change their tune.

Even boss Rafa Benitez admitted the Reds were dire as they crashed to a 2-0 defeat in Italy.

And in a game where Torres and Gerrard were not at their best, the side did not have anyone else to step up to the plate.

Manchester United and Chelsea, for example, have people and systems and a squad that are more than capable of coping with the loss of their key players.

When Didier Drogba doesn’t score for Chelsea, Nicolas Anelka usually does.

Liverpool do not have that same strength in depth and maybe the so-called fans who suggest I was talking out of my a*** are not so critical now.
