My Anfield insiders say Javier Mascherano is unhappy at Liverpool
Liverpool fans must be more than a little concerned right now.
The George Gillett and Tom Hicks ownership fiasco at Anfield shows no sign of abating with potential new Saudi investors baulking at the club’s debt.
And I firmly believe there are only three title-worthy players in the side in the form of Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Pepe Reina.
Now my spies at my old club are telling me that the next most influential player, Javier Mascherano, is unhappy and may well be looking for pastures new come the summer or even sooner if the price is right.
That would be a massive blow for boss Rafa Benitez, who has showed a lot of faith in the Argentine and helped turn him into one of the world’s better defensive midfielders since his move from West Ham.
However it looks as though Spain or even Italy may be tempting Javier, who by all accounts believes his chance of winning the Champions League trophy could be enhanced away from the Premier League.
So watch this space.
