Six-hit Gunners are great to watch but they won't win title

Arsenal's exhilarating destruction of Everton will have the Premier League quaking but I do not believe the Gunners are realistic title contenders.

Their 6-1 blitz of Everton was a fantastic start to the season and Arsenal have always had that ability under manager Arsene Wenger to turn anyone of over.

They have the qualities to genuinely beat any football team on the planet by that margin, whether it is a club side or national team.

But you just know come November and December on a cold night up north they are liable to succumb to defeat away from home.

I think deep down lots of Arsenal fans will be pragmatic and realise they have potential more than anything in abundance.

So while stuffing Everton is as impressive an opening day result as I can remember, I really don’t believe Arsenal will win the title.

In the toughest league in the world you need more than pure football ability. And the Gunners’ inexperienced and small squad will be exposed during a long, gruelling season.

It is shame because we would all love to be entertained by Arsenal regularly playing sides off the park. I think most football fans who cherish the game would enjoy seeing Wenger’s side turn in such thrilling performances on a regular basis.

The club have not won a trophy since the 2005 FA Cup final so I do hope they get some silverware this term to reward Wenger’s admirable philosophies.

And if Arsenal prove me wrong and do end up winning the title then we could see more clubs copying Wenger’s approach to nurturing talent.
