Why Adam's red mist means red card was inevitable

The problem with writing anything that resembles criticism of a Liverpool player is that the red half of the city seems to close ranks and take it personally. But the truth will always out – and Charlie Adam was a red card waiting to happen.

While playing for Blackpool at Tottenham last season, his challenge on Gareth Bale was dreadful and he escaped punishment. He repeated the tackle for Scotland against Lithunania and again nothing happened to him.

Third time unlucky on Sunday for his wicked lunge on Scott Parker. It was at least a yellow card. It nasty, high and late. Maybe he will learn from it.

Chant of the week ? That has to go to the QPR fans at Wolves. With Rangers easing to a facile win, Molineux was emptying at a rate of knots long before the final whistle. “Is there a fire drill ?” came from the Rangers end.
