Why I'm backing giant Zigic to help little Brum beat the Goliaths of Arsenal
The first trophy of the season is up for grabs this afternoon at Wembley where Birmingham City takes on the mighty Arsenal.
It’s a bit like David meets Goliath considering the gulf in class and the positions of both teams in the Premier League.
Manager Alex McLeish, however, can call upon his own gigantic hulk in the form of the 6ft 8in tall Nikola Zigic, who has already scored at the Emirates and notched the winner in the Aston Villa derby this season.
Whether Zigic starts or not depends on McLeish, but there is no doubt that Arsenal’s brittle defence will not relish a battle in the sky from the Serbian international.
Birmingham’s game plan will be to contain Robin van Persie and co for as long as possible before throwing on the huge striker.
However, if Samir Nasri and Jack Wilshere are allowed too much early space then it could well be game over before Zigic’s introduction.
I believe Birmingham can win today – with their very own Goliath nodding in the winner!
